Worn Light

Worn Light is a Solana Beach family home reimagined for real life. With kids in junior high and high school, our clients wanted a better layout, a pool, and spaces that could keep up with an active household. They loved their community but not the housing options—so they chose to stay put and transform the home they already had.

The renovation touched the entire downstairs, reconfiguring rooms to open up public areas for team hangouts, easy entertaining, and seamless indoor-outdoor living. Expanding the connection to the deck and pool created a relaxed flow—perfect for afternoons that move effortlessly from inside to outside. A former guest bedroom that once doubled as a cramped office was reworked into a light-filled home gym, featuring a full wall of glass and serving as the ideal passthrough to the pool bath.

Finishes were intentionally soft, durable, and timeless. Pale, easy materials are layered with tumbled white bronze accents for warmth and patina. We added a dedicated beverage area separate from the coffee station, a generous walk-in pantry, and a flexible front den that functions as a reading nook, office, and drop zone with concealed storage. Thoughtful cabinetry creates places to land, organize, and showcase family heirlooms, travel finds, and the kids’ trophies—bringing structure, personality, and ease to a busy family home.
